Dana is a creative thinker that thrives on the complicated tension that a creative project can bring. Wether that tension is self imposed or hard-to-meet client criteria, Dana works comfortably within the space. Dana is currently taking some time off to create her way to a new career that, as she described, she should be doing. She anticipates that her passion for collaboration will push her to have her business open by the beginning of the new year, but for now, she is creating on her own.
How would you describe your process of creation?
I usually start with some research on the client, have an initial meeting to collect project criteria and then that leads to moodboarding and conceptualization. I rarely work alone, but prefer to collaborate on everything that I do. That might mean that I call up my mother, dive into Pinterest or call in my coworkers. I am always trying to coax some creativity out of people, projects and products.
What inspires you?
My biggest inspiration and influences come from art that is around me. I like to hear about new artists, especially textile designers. When Etsy first hit the scene and interior design blogs ruled my screen time, I could get lost for hours and then surface full of creative ideas.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I have found that clients are able to say things with products that they can’t say with words. Watching a client get excited about an idea coming to life is my favorite part.
What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?
I have been eating an egg sandwich just about every day for the past 25 years. If I miss my egg sandwich, my mojo is off. Friends, family and coworkers would not argue with this statement.
Final words?
